The Trial/Sentencing

Picture
After Sinclair's remains were flushed down the toilet, other tenants began to complain due to the plumbing. A company called "Dyno-Rod" arrived. Michael Cattran checked a manhole.
Noticing a rancid smell, Cattran knew it was something dead. He then called a superior with tenants (including Nilsen) surrounding him and left.
At midnight, Nilsen started to remove the flesh. He pondered suicide.
Tenants noticed his movements and reported the police.
Upon returning from work, three men were waiting for Nilsen.
Detective Chief Inspector Jay told Nilsen that the human remains came from Nilsen's flat. Nilsen then confessed. In the trial, he pleaded "Not Guilty" to all charges (Six counts of murder and two charges of attempted murder).
The jury declared him guilty on all counts. The judge sentenced Nilsen to life in jail, claiming he wasn't eligible for parole until after 25 years. Nilsen is still in jail today.
